Live A Life Without Lenses
At Lakeland Family Eyecare, our eye doctors have years of experience co-managing laser eye surgery procedures. We guide our patients through the entire process: from determining candidacy and explaining the procedure, to following up and monitoring overall eye health post-surgery.
In short, we support you pre- and postoperatively. We refer you to trusted ophthalmologists in the area so that you are well taken care of throughout the entire process.
What Is a Laser Eye Surgery Consultation?
Our consultation process is more than an assessment. After your surgery, we will continue to closely monitor your progress and provide ongoing care.
At your preoperative consultation, we evaluate your eyes to determine your candidacy for laser eye surgery. If we determine you’re a viable candidate, we’ll send your information to the ophthalmologist and schedule a pre-surgery consultation with your surgeon.
Preoperative Consultation
Our consultation includes:
- Counselling on refractive surgery options
- Testing eye dominance
- Assessing refraction status & refractive stability
- Evaluating the cornea & overall eye health
- Discussing relevant health conditions
If we determine you’re a viable candidate, we’ll send your information to the ophthalmologist and schedule a pre-surgery consultation with your surgeon.
Postoperative Care & Follow Up
The importance of postoperative management cannot be understated. After-surgery care is a critical step to promote successful outcomes and healthy eyes. We’re pleased to provide thorough postoperative care for our laser eye surgery patients. You can expect multiple follow-up visits with our optometrist after surgery. These visits include medical evaluations and management of your vision and eye healing. We will also assess any additional needs you may have, such as reading glasses, sunglasses, or enhancement laser procedures.
Laser Eye Surgery Is Common & Can Be Effective
Laser eye surgery is one of the most common procedures to correct various refractive errors. About 90% of patients successful achieve between 20/20 and 20/40 without glasses or contact lenses.
