Early Detection Is Vital to Protecting Vision

Did you know that nearly 75% of vision loss is preventable? Extensive research shows that early detection and prevention are paramount for your ocular health.

Because many eye diseases have no early symptoms, they often go undetected in their initial stages until damage to vision has already occurred.

With annual exams, we can effectively monitor your ocular health and catch potential vision problems early. Taking careful notes of your vision history allows us to spot even the smallest changes in your eyes or vision—changes you may not even be aware of.

Eye Wellness Exams Are Crucial for Your Ocular Health

Your eyes are important indicators of your overall health and wellness. Our comprehensive exams are designed to detect even the faintest signs of various vision-threatening eye diseases, like diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.

Eye exams can also uncover health conditions seemingly unrelated to your eyes, like high blood pressure, diabetes, or even cancer.

The Importance of Adult & Senior Eye Exams

Some health conditions can increase your risk of developing eye-related diseases and conditions. Those with diabetes, hypertension, thyroid problems, and other health conditions, should undergo annual eye exams to closely monitor their ocular health and prevent potential vision loss.

Even without high-risk conditions, you should still undergo regular eye exams at least every 2 years. These routine exams monitor your ocular health and provide you with updated eyeglass prescriptions to keep you seeing clearly.

As we age, it’s even more important to undergo annual eye exams. With age comes a higher risk of developing eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration that can cause vision loss and impact your quality of life.

You may not be completely aware of a problem with your eyes. By undergoing regular comprehensive eye exams and remaining aware of the following signs and symptoms of vision loss, you can protect your eyesight:

  • Sensitivity to light
  • Needing to squint to see clearly
  • Dull colours
  • Poor depth perception
  • Troubles with reading or writing
  • Difficulty with detailed work
  • Seeing flashes of light
  • Difficulty driving at night
  • Uncontrolled eye movement
  • Trouble seeing road or traffic signs

We have invested in optometric technology to provide you with a clear picture of your ocular health. We take the time to help you understand why we perform each test. Our team will also go over your results because we want you to be as invested in your vision as we are.

We’re so committed to your health that we became one of Alberta’s first optometry practices to use digital retinal photography and OCT Imaging as standard parts of our eye examination process.
