What Is Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration?

Dry age-related macular degeneration is the gradual deterioration of the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp vision. It is a leading cause of blindness in individuals over 50 and often develops without symptoms in its early stages.

However, as it progresses, it can lead to:

  • Blurriness or distortion in central vision
  • Difficulty seeing in low light
  • Challenges with colour perception

MacuMira has been clinically shown to restore vision in patients with dry AMD and can improve both vision and quality of life.

What to Expect During Your MacuMira Treatment

The treatment is comfortable and noninvasive and involves no injections or medications.

Your eye care provider will create a personalized plan, typically starting with four sessions over 10 days, each lasting about 30 minutes.

During treatment:

  • You’ll be seated comfortably in an exam chair.
  • A specialized headset will be placed on your head, which will gently deliver microcurrent stimulation to your closed eyes.
  • This microcurrent enhances blood flow to nourish the macula and stimulates the production of essential cellular components that support retinal health.

To maintain the benefits of the treatment, you’ll typically have follow-up sessions every 2.5 to 3 months.

Benefits of MacuMira Treatment for Dry AMD

MacuMira offers several benefits, including:

  • Restored sight: In a clinical trial, 100% of patients showed improved vision.
  • Enhanced contrast sensitivity: Many patients reported improved vision in low-light conditions and better differentiation between light and dark.
  • Quick results: Most patients started seeing results within the first 10 days of treatment.
